Given how easy this is, you should consider cutting the allotted time at least by half to make it a bit more of a challenge.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: putting ridiculously easy quizzes like this on the front page takes that opportunity of being featured away from other, more deserving quizzes.

For someone who doesn't have extensive knowledge of geography, this may be difficult. I'm not speaking for myself, just saying. Laugh all you want, but there are people who think Europe is a country and so on...

Why does it have to be hard? There are plenty of difficult quizzes on this site!

Dec 13, 2015
Agreed, but quizzes like this, with a 100% average, is taking "easy" to silly extremes. I feel like a baseballer swinging my bat at a volleyball, an archer two metres from the target, a highjumper leaping over a row of matchboxes. How about introducing a new scoring system to reflect the challenge values of quizzes, because 5 points for this quiz is so nuts, and so cheap, I just can't bear to do it. Here's my scoring suggestion: You currently give out 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 for getting the 100th, 80th, 65th, 50th and 25% percentile. How about, while keeping that basic structure, giving a MAXIMUM of 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points for where 0-20, 20-35, 35-50, 50-75 and 75-100% respectively get every question right? Have appropriate scale-downs below the maximums (eg for a 3-point-max quiz, it would be 3 for 100th percentile, 2 for 80th percentile, 1 for 65th percentile, and 0 for anything lesser)?

So what? I like to sometimes do these quizzes with my 6 year old daughter. This is just one more that I can take with her. If you feel the quiz is "beneath you" just don't take it.

Dec 17, 2015
Easy quizzes are fine. But giving 5 points for easy quizzes, where almost everyone is getting them all correct, doesn't make sense. I'd welcome your opinion on the scoring suggestion above, which takes into account quizzes that are so easy virtually everyone is getting 100%. (You are incorrect to say that I think this quiz is "beneath" me. I don't.)

Wait...you are taking these quizzes for the points? You mean, the points that don't matter? There isn't even a "top 100" list to see how you compare to anyone else. As far as you know, you have the most points on the site. I thought you were taking the quizzes...you know...for fun.

As far as I know, it's DollarBill, plattitude, sillie, you (buck), kalbahamut, then Jerry. I agree that quizzes should be taken for fun, also, but I kinda think Jerry's trying to say that he takes the quizzes for fun (why else would he be on the site for almost 2 years now?), but a new point system should be incorporated, so people who work hard to get all answers at quizzes like this one are not treated with the same points as someone who got all correct on this quiz.

Just for the heck of it, I have done some figuring regarding points and levels on JetPunk. As of today (3-23-16) there are 3,911 featured quizzes. So if you take every quiz and get a perfect score on them all you will have 19,555 points, good enough for level 74. Not important in the scheme of things, but it was fun to figure it out! And to those of you with a score of 74 I will now bow down before you... for I do not have the patience to master the Countries of the world in Spanish, French and German, or memorize the name of every school in the NCAA basketball tournament, or to learn the names of every character ever mentioned in Harry Potter!!!

Oceania is quite clearly more of a region than Australasia. There is a fair and convincing argument to be made that New Guinea and Australia share a continent. But does Fiji share a continent with Australia? Does Tuvalu? By no definition I can think of, and yet Oceania typically includes all those places.

Beat 100% of test takers!
+1
level 63
Apr 23, 2019
Yea not really, eventhough that is what it says. (Bugs me everytime i see it btw) if 100 people take a test and 90 got all of them right (and 10 dont) then all of those 90 people will get the you ve beaten 100% while in fact they have only beaten 10%.

you could just aswell say you ve been beaten by 90%, cause you didnt get a better score than them. If equalling means beating someone, you been beaten by a lot of people.

i guess it would be bad for the egos when getting a quiz 100% and then hearing you only beat 10% or something. I can envision the chaos and the tantrums now. So eventhough it is wrong, one has beaten others when they score exactly the same. I can see quizmasters reasoning now. You got to keep them content

All the people complaining about points on this quiz annoy me. Isn't it nice to take a break every once in a while and still be able to raise your level while doing so? It's not like 90% of featured quizzes are this easy. Think about the people who are less skilled at geography on this geography-centric site. Don't they deserve the same amount of points we get for a quiz they might find challenging? Or should we make them feel worse because they only got 100% on a "one point quiz?"

In a simple point of view, if you distinguish Asia and Europe and North America with South America, you're only dealing with political continents, therefore you should use Oceania only. If you speak about geological continents you'll have only Eurasia and one America and indeed in English Australia. (And if you speak acording to the Olympic Comitee you have 5 continents with America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania).

Africa - Roman province Asia - Alternative name for Persia found in Herodotus Europe - Europa, mythological Queen of Crete. Oceania - Only continent linked by oceans.
