I actually almost missed the Notre Dame question, and I live barely an hour away from South Bend. Just goes to show I really need to start thinking about colleges; better yet, find out where they're located.

That Journey song always bugged me. Grew up in the suburbs of Detroit and can tell you there is no "south Detroit". Detroit has a east and west side and an area known as southwest Detroit. Apparently Steve Perry wrote it about a suburb called Southfield, which is actually north of Detroit.

lol it's a song, songs aren't exactly obligated to be scientific, they're supposed to be less literal and more metaphorical

There is a University of Notre Dame Australia in Western Australia and New South Wales, and a University of Notre Dame du Lac in Indiana. The quiz question as written is ambiguous and should be accepting New South Wales as an answer.

For the same reason that if you ask "What country is Paris in?" the answer is France and not the US. Paris, Texas, population 24,000 just isn't nearly as important.

Why is Saudi Arabia not there in the first category of the quiz?

The caveat does say only South or Southern but Saudi is just south but in Arab.

Saudi (adj.)

1933, from Sa'ud, family name of the rulers of Nejd from 18c. and of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1932. The name is from Arabic sa'd "good fortune, happiness." With common Semitic national designation suffix -i.

There is no South Detroit, Detroit lies on the north side of a bend in the Detroit River. South of Detroit is actually Windsor, Canada.

There is a set of communities south west of Detroit, collectively known as 'Down River,' but you shouldn't date guys from there. "Down River Man...." news headlines are Michigan's version of, "Florida Man..."
