I assumed Malaysia is an island country because of Borneo but that would be like calling Canada an island country because of Baffin Island. I have now removed it.
A great idea for a quiz but 2 points of disagreement:
1) There is no land border between India and Sri Lanka
2) UK doesn't border Spain. Gibraltar is an overseas territory of the UK and not part of the UK. The UK consists of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
However, if UK-Spain is included, UK-Cyprus should be included for consistency.
Just to pre-empt any comments about Guantánamo Bay, it's a leased territory and not part of the USA.
Thanks for taking my quiz. However, as said in the caveats, borders are as in Countries by Borders. Both the UK-Spain border and India-Sri Lanka border are used there.
Yes, but if you count the UK-Spain border at Gibraltar, is the UK really an island country. (If you're counting Gibraltar, then the UK is like Malaysia, with territory on both islands and the continental mainland.)
I don't really take the view that the UK isn't an island country, but maybe add a note to the instructions that island countries mean countries that are [principally on islands] [generally considered to be island countries] or something similar.
