Add CSA for Confederate States, and GDR/FRG for East/West Germany. USSR and other acronyms should also work as full words. Besides that, nice quiz.

Fantastic quiz, very clever and original! Thank you for making it!! 9/12. I easily recognized the area of northwestern South America but had no idea what it had been called. West Germany looked so much like an island to me that I never considered anything else. And North Vietnam totally stumped me.

Technically neither West Germany nor North Vietnam are "former countries": they simply annexed other parts of territory and became Germany and Vietnam. Ah, and the shape of west germany is without west Berlin. A part from those things great quiz, I would like to see another one.

Technically, West Berlin wasn't a part of Germany back then.

Shouldn't Gran Colombia include all of modern-day Panama, not just part of it?

Could you please accept "Austro-Hungarian Empire" as a correct answer?

I echo the comments about the Austro-Hungarian or Austrian Hungarian Empire (or even Habsburg Empire). There was never a country called either East Germany or West Germany: they were the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG or BRD) and the German Democratic Republic (GDR or DDR).

Good God, you love to type in a lot of extra letters in your quiz, huh? Don't forget there's no such nation as U.K., it's The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. You must moderate the German language quizzes here because I have to type in Vereinigtes K├Ânigreich every time instead of UK or VK.

Great quiz - especially North Vietnam, which is completely obvious and completely impossible. I knew exactly what Gran Colombia was, but could not find the name - was it also once (further back in history) called New Grenada?

Yes - i thought so - it was New Grenada BEFORE it gained independence.
