Flightless bird from Madagascar, went extinct 1000-1200AD

Originally this bird was the most abundant bird in North America, their extinction was most likely caused by humans killing them along with a lack of genetic diversity.

Carnivious marsupial, went extinct in 1936 where the last individual died in a zoo in Tasmania, Australia.

A predator characterized by it's sharp teeth, and is more closely related to marsupials than felines, despite it's common name.

This animal last seen in the 1970s still, has many water-loving relatives alive today. This river loving mammal was believed to be a cure for tuberculosis at one point.

The only native land animal of the island that this canid is named after. Even Charles Darwin was confused by the animal. This mammal went extinct in 1876.

This slow-moving animal still has 6 relative species roaming trees today. However this mammal spent most of its time on land and though it's living relatives are small, these extinct animals could be as large as modern elephants.
