Tangier is the usual spelling and should be accepted. I think Tanger might be a typo. Tangiers should also be acceptable.

Thank you again, NigelS. It was a mistake of Translation. "Tanger" is the german spelling. Tangier will work now.

That's right. But my hint "Southern Sahara" is not referring to a Country (a Country of this Name doesn't exist), where you could find the town in question. This geographic hint is only meant as little help for Orientation as to where the town in question is, without making it too easy to answer.
