However, a fun fact is that since the 60 miles between San Marino and Florence are mostly mountain, the quickest way to drive from Florence to San Marino is actually by going north around Bologna and then back southeast. This route takes around 2 1/2 hours, while going through the mountains adds a whole hour to the trip.
