A few notes:

Australia is typically considered a landmass, not an island. See Island Countries Quiz for some explanations/debates.

"...which is about 1200 kilometres due west from:" could be asking for Thailand or Phuket... I think it would be better to say "...which is about 1200 kilometres due west from the city of:"
