4. Michigan lost population.
Fact.
False.
Michigan officially rose above 10 million people for the first time in history.
5. All states but one gained population.

8. Texas has more cities proper with a population over 1 million than any other state.
Fact.
False.

9. Texas has more counties with a population over 1 million than any other state.
Fact.
False.
Of the 49 counties above 1 million, Texas has 6. California has 10. New York City's 5 boroughs are legal counties and all but Staten Island have over 1 million people. Adding 3 suburban counties, New York has 7. Typical of any national race Florida's involved in, the count in a single county comes within tying 6 by a mere 4,400 people.

Fact.
False.
Paradise, Nevada as defined in 2010 was #1. As now defined it is the #5 CDP, behind Arlington, Virginia and 3 other expanded, unincorporated Las Vegas suburbs. CDPs are a muddy statistic. As they often do not conform to any area defined by local government nor by postal addresses, they are subject to being frequently reconsidered for vastly expanded or shrunken boundaries.

New York City has had more people than the #2 and #3 cities combined since the 4 other current boroughs were added to Manhattan to form the modern City of New York in 1898. In the 3 Censuses from 1860 to 1880, Brooklyn (now part of NYC) was the #3 city and combined with #2 Philadelphia had more than New York City, which consisted soley of Manhattan.

Before then NYC sometimes did and sometimes didn't have more than the next 2 combined. It is the only place of any geographic type to hold the same rank in every U.S. Census since the country's founding.

suprised that oklahoma city was larger than jacksonville in 2010. fun fact: the biggest cdp, arlington virginia, is coexistent (is that the right word?) with the county of arlington and is de-facto an independent city of which there are many in virginia. the cdp that contains the las vegas strip, paradise, had a population decrease of 14% in 2010-2020 while a neighboring cdp, enterprise, has had an increase of 104%

edit: the city-county question was about land area
