That infamously incompetent rulers who were killed violently like Commodus and Nero are on this list speaks both to the power of dynastic legitimacy in keeping an Emperor alive for a long time if they had it. It also speaks to the general lifespan of roman emperors if these guys made it on the list.

Basically, if you were the last member of a dynasty which dominated Rome for decades, it seems like you could coast along on your ancestry and "right" to rule for some time before your actions get you killed.
