Newly Released Marvel & DC Trailers!

There were tons of new trailers this month, so let's take a second to talk about each one! Tell me in the comments which trailer got you the most excited!

Secret Invasion Trailer

This trailer didn't present anything too new or exciting, not any new reveals of any sort, but more so just a few more clips of the show bunched together to provide a little more insight as to what the show is about. Regardless of the trailer seeming not super exciting or revealing, I am still stoked for this show. The first episode of Secret Invasion will be streaming on Disney+ on June 21.

Blue Beetle Trailer

This got me excited! I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this movie, seeing how it was initially supposed to go right onto HBO Max (which will be rebranded to "Max" on May 23), so I was worried this would be a lower-budget production and it wouldn't be that great, but this trailer makes the movie seem fun! The characters are funny, and there were a few jokes scattered in there that made me laugh. This doesn't seem like it'll be a high-stakes kind of movie, but just a chill, fun superhero movie. Blue Beetle will be in theaters August 18.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer

The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer looks pretty cool. We got a closer glimpse as to what we can expect from this movie. The only thing that seemed odd to me was how Spider-Man 2099 referred to the MCU's Peter Parker's world as Earth-199999 rather than 616. I would have assumed they would have kept the universe's identification the same across movies, so that got me a little confused. I get it's not a big deal, but it's just something I was thinking about. But overall, it is a pretty solid trailer. I'm excited to see it in theaters! Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be in theaters June 2.

The Marvels Trailer

With the disappointment of the Captain Marvel movie, my expectations for The Marvels has been low. And while there isn't anything super exciting or thrilling in the trailer itself, this look at the movie has given me a little more anticipation for what is to come in this movie. I'm eager to see why it seems like Monica has some kind of grudge with Captain Marvel. This was a pretty solid trailer. The Marvels will be in theaters November 10.

The Penguin Trailer

This little tease at the upcoming BatVerse series coming to Max really gets you excited! The world that was built up in The Batman was so intriguing, and this show looks like it’ll achieve that feeling again. There wasn’t much revealed in this trailer, but there’s no doubt there’s much to come. The Penguin will be streaming on Max in 2024.

The Flash Trailer

This trailer for The Flash released during CinemaCon just before the film was presented to attendees, and it had me jumping up and down out of excitement. The trailer is awesome, just like the last one, and I think the callbacks to Batman '89 are fun. I can tell this movie is going to be great, and the reception from audiences and CinemaCon was spectacular, and I truly think this will go down as top tier DC. The Flash will be in theaters June 16.

“Black Widow 2” Storyline Scrapped for Thunderbolts

Back to Marvel/DC news unrelated to trailers, reports have stated that the writer for Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts had been writing the script to be more of a "Black Widow 2" than a Thunderbolts movie. For that reason, the movie got a new writer to fix that flaw in the script. This was a common complaint back in July of 2022 when people were disappointed by the Thunderbolts team lineup. People thought there were too many characters from Black Widow reprising their role. The team consisted of Red Guardian, Ghost, Winter Soldier, Yelena, Taskmaster, and U.S. Agent. We later found out that Hannah John-Kamen's character of Ghost would no longer be a part of the Thunderbolts roster. This meant that 3 of the 5 members were all from Black Widow. The other two were from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. It felt like the team lacked variety, and fans were upset about that, which is likely the reason for the change in writers. Hopefully, this means we can expect a new, more exciting lineup for this team.

Deadpool 3 Returning Cast

We know that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be playing their mega-famous characters of Deadpool and Wolverine, but we have also found out about a few returning characters from the past two Deadpool films. Reportedly, Morena Baccarin will return as Vanessa, Stefan Kapicic is returning to play Colossus, Karan Soni is returning as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams will be back to play Blind Al. It sounds like Marvel Studios is not going to change the key characters that make the first two movies so great.

Creature Commandos Casting

The cast of the upcoming DCU show "Creature Commandos" has been revealed. This seven-episode series releasing in 2024 will have (from left to right), Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varna as The Bride, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot, and Sean Gunn as Weasel. Steve Agee will also be returning as John Economos, and Maria Bakalova will be playing an original character named Princess Ilana Rostovic.

Spider-Man Swinging onto Disney+!

A deal was struck two years ago allowing the Spider-Man films to be released on Disney+ eventually. However, since then, there has been no word as to when the Spider-Man movies would make it to the streaming service. But on April 21, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and The Amazing Spider-Man made it onto Disney+. Spider-Man: Homecoming and Venom will be streaming on May 12. We have gotten no word as to when Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, or Morbius will be on Disney+. But as for right now, we'll have those six movies.

Jonathan Majors Update

Jonathan Majors has lost many opportunities for his future. Marvel Studios is on the search for a replacement for Kang, and while there hasn't been confirmation that he has been fired, it is in talks. Majors' management team quit. Things just seem to be crumbling down for Majors. I believe it is either May 8 or May 9 when Majors and his attorney will be given the chance to provide the evidence pertaining to the actor's innocence, as his attorney has consistently stating he is not guilty. Whenever this day comes when the evidence is revealed and Majors' fate is revealed, you can find out everything on the June CQMB, or possibly on one of my "Update" blogs.

Fantastic Four Casting Rumors

Marvel Studios is reportedly looking at Adam Driver to play Mister Fantastic in the 2025 film. He is allegedly in final talks to play the role. There have been other rumors regarding the other roles' casting in Marvel's first family, but this is the most popular rumor currently. I don't personally think this would be great casting. I'm not sure if I think he's fit for the role. I think they can find someone who fits the role a little better. I thought Krasinski was a fun choice for Multiverse of Madness, but I get that they're wanting someone else for this film. Another news story, there are rumors of a gender-swap for The Thing. There are rumors going around stating that Mila Kunis may be playing The Thing for Fantastic Four (2025). That is a bold choice, but we know Disney makes efforts to be inclusive towards subjects like gender and race. This wouldn't be surprising, but I would bet this choice would go down as being controversial seeing how that's veering away from the classic Fantastic Four team.

The SSU is Taking a Dark Turn

The new Kraven the Hunter movie releasing on October 6, 2023 has been confirmed to be rated R. This news came straight from CinemaCon, and this has many people excited, seeing how the SSU (Sony's Spider-Man Universe) held back from making the Venom films rated R. At CinemaCon, the attendees were shown a trailer for the movie, and apparently, they did not hold back on the gore. The trailer reportedly had Kraven bite off someone's nose. The trailer also introduced the character of Rhino into the SSU. This character was last seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but now we are hearing that it will be a different actor as Rhino, and he will not be in the robotic suit from 2014, but instead, he will be in the actual Rhino suit. The actor playing Rhino in this film is Alessandro Nivola, so those of you who weren’t fans of Paul Giamatti can expect a fresh, new take on this character. Lots of people have this much higher on their anticipation list because of this news that has come out about this movie.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania on Disney+

Marvel Studios' latest film, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, will be streaming on Disney+ on May 17, two weeks after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s theatrical release.

Thank You!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this month's CQMB. Be sure to stay tuned for the next CQMB which will release on the first of June.

Tbh I don't really know what to think about secret invasion. While I am excited for the return of Nick Fury, I am a little bit confused as to why it seems to be just him in the show. If we were going off of comics the whole secret invasion idea is that the Skrulls are impersonating the super heroes. Interested as to how this will turn out.

Great blog! (:

Yeah I agree, seeing the comics’ history, I feel like this should be a grander scale MCU project with a larger cast. Guess we’ll just hafta wait 🤷‍♂️
