While none of the parties have received majority votes in the election history of independent India, here we see three parties have won majority seats in the Lok Sabha (lower house) of the Parliament of India: the Indian National Congress (1952 to 1971 and later 1980 and 1984 as well), the Janata Party (1977) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (since 2014).
