The Most Legendary Quizzes on JetPunk! [#QCCLegends RESULTS]

+11

Hear ye, hear ye! I’m sure that all of you are aware that a few short weeks months ago in this blog I challenged JetPunk to create a quiz based on Legends. I have selected my favourites among the submissions, and would like to share my thoughts on them. I humbly request that you try the quizzes, as they’re all quite good.

Quiz #1

Trace the Route of Odysseus on a Map by baptistegorce

Starting things off we have this quiz by baptistegorce. In it you will have to name the modern day countries that Odysseus travelled to in Homer’s epics. It was heavily inspired by JWatson’s series of the same name Playing this quiz you can really feel the inspiration from JWatson's series of the same name. Which is a good thing! Because their route tracing quizzes are really good. I particularly love the animation of the route being drawn after every answer. I know this sounds silly, but the animation leading from one city to the next does genuinely make it feel like you’re going on a little mini-adventure. A mini-odyssey, if you will. The animation can be a little slow at times, especially from the second city to the third, but it’s mostly a non issue. I’m also loving the killer aesthetic of the torn, ancient map. It’s the epic bow that ties this whole thing together.

At the end of the day, tracing routes on maps is fun. At least I think it's fun. I hope everyone else has fun taking the quiz, I hope you (baptistegorce) had fun making it, and I hope Odysseus had fun travelling this route in the first place (I wouldn’t know I’ve never read it).

Quiz #2

Chinese Folklore Multiple Choice by cuotak

In Chinese Folklore Multiple Choice, you must answer multiple choice questions about Chinese folklore. Apt title, well done.

Honestly, no notes for this quiz. It’s basically as good as you’d want a multiple choice quiz to be. The questions are creative and tough, but you’re still able to get by purely with educated guesses. I don’t know a thing about Chinese mythology and I managed to get three questions right! Honestly my lack of knowledge about the subject is really limiting how much I can say about this quiz. I had fun taking it and it was informative? If the quiz was just factually wrong I wouldn’t be able to tell. Assuming that’s not the case though, I think it was quite good. Excellent work!

Quiz #3

Legend and Myths of Europe on a Map by Maxibon

This is a massive quiz. It has 100 total answers, plus a map that shows where each legend came from. It’s obvious that a ton of work went into making this quiz. The legends chosen are a nice mix of well-known and obscure legends that pretty much guarantees that you'll need to take the quiz at least twice to get everything, but you can still walk away from it with only one take and still feel satisfied with your score. I only got 31% on my first take. That would be a failing at any self-respecting school but considering I've never studied this subject before I feel like that's pretty good. My only nitpick would be to make the description a little more descriptive for what you’ll be doing in the quiz, rather than just the general concept itself. Maybe something like "Name these 100 European myths and legends given their location on a map" could work? It's a pretty minor criticism though. Aside from that, the execution of the actual quiz itself was practically flawless. Fantastic job!

Other Quizzes + Conclusion

Other Quizzes

Unfortunately I’m not able to talk about every quiz submitted, however I will say that they were all still good. Below I’ve linked the other quizzes that I didn’t already talk about, so go check them out!

Once again I am apologizing for my very late follow up to this blog. I actually had most of this blog done in September but then I got swamped with schoolwork, plus I got sidetracked with a separate self-imposed challenge I was doing on JetPunk (that hopefully I release a blog for by the end of next month), plus plus I just… forgot about it. And of the three I think that last one really delayed this blog and the most. Hopefully the 2010s QCC will come a little sooner (though not like soon soon… I haven’t even really thought about it yet).

That’s all from me for now. See ya next time!

I am going to tweak the description slightly. Also, I don't mean to be competitive here, but is there a winner?

Thank you for compliments :)

Well, let’s not get carried away. Calling that Bigfoot quiz a winner is a bit of a stretch.

Great, you finally submitted it! The quizzes really turned out great, my favorite is the Maxim with a map of Europe!

I don't have the proper skills to create such great quizzes, so it doesn't bother me that they're not in the top three. On the contrary, the top three are undeniably beautiful! But the participation was very interesting, thanks for this challenge!
