No Blogs?

Accomplishments!

Delete Forever?

In today's news the owner of this account has told us that he will not be making blogs regularly anymore! What will happen to some of the beloved series that he created? He says some will live and some will fade away. More on page 2.

In good news, the owner of this account says he's happy for two things: He's achieved four thousand takes a while ago according to him, and has also achieved fifteen years of age! Here's what he had to say about the event:

"Well, being 15 isn't too bad. Just 3 more years till I have to have the burden of being an adult. What a time to be alive." -The Owner

This is a new shocking revelation! The AFOTWIT series may be deleted for good!! What blasphemy is this? In a statement made yesterday, he had this to say:

"I just think my creative juices have ran out. I know the series may be well beloved and came from humble roots in Southeast Asia, but it's time to give it a break. Maybe it'll be deleted, maybe not. Who knows? I'll ask a few friends." -The Owner

Today's Top Story: Notice! Deletion.

A few series will be deleted, and some will live. What does this mean though?

If a series is to be deleted, it will just be discontinued. If it lives, it will be continued albeit installations will be published rarely.

But which series will live and which ones will be discontinued?

Well, for one, the AFOTWIT series is on a balance point. I'm still debating over discontinuing the series or not, and I'll ask a few friends to help in this decision.

Second of all, the Philippines alternate history might be discontinued. If I find a collaborator, maybe this series will continue, but most likely not.

The CC or DD series, a 1950s version of AFOTWIT, is going to be discontinued until further notice.

And any other blog series are still being debated over, though some will be discontinued.

Thank you for understanding.

What you all came for: a short *scary* story! Not based on any real-life events.

Once upon a time in the past few years, there was a couple with some children. One day, the couple went on a date. They decided to hire a babysitter to watch their three children. While she was watching TV, she saw an angel statue. It stood there silently and steadily.

*ring*

Parents: "Hello?"

Babysitter: "Hey, what do we do with that angel statue?"

Parents: "Call the police, call the police!"

A few seconds later, she went upstairs and saw the kids, dead in a closet. They seemed to have sustained a foreign object into their bodies. But there was no one in sight.

*ring*

Operator: "911, what's your emergency?"

Babysitter: "Help! There's an angel statue and it killed three kids a few seconds ago! I'm currently at 123 Oak Street. Please help- Ahh!!!!!!!

Operator: "Hello? Hello?"

By the time the police and parents had arrived, there was no one in sight. The family dog also seemed to have been impaled. The police went in, and saw there was no one there but the dead babysitter and the dead kids. And when they searched, there wasn't a single angel statue in sight...

The end.

Short story review:

It starts off decently enough, besides the cliche 'once upon a time,' but I can brush that off. Once we learn that the babysitter is seeing the angel statue, it's never told how she sees it. My first impression was that she saw it within the television. Of course, she probably saw it outside the window, but detail is everything.

Next we come to the rising action. The babysitter calls the parents to report this mysterious statue. But what I don't get is how the parents were able to reach such a rash conclusion with just a few words. All the babysitter says is that there was an angel statue. Nowhere was a threat mentioned, the statue's location, specifics, etc. The parents somehow decide to involve the police over a statue. But okay, not breaking the story or anything.

She goes upstairs and finds the kids dead. This was a very grim and sudden twist, with very little buildup—not necessarily a bad thing. I think it was done pretty well here, actually. …

Anyways, she sees the kids dead, stabbed. Very sad.

She calls the police, even though the parents told her very clearly to do that on the phone. Shouldn't she have done it before checking on the kids? I enjoy the realism in the phone call, though. It does encapsulate a feeling of panic well. I don't understand how she realized the angel statue did it, though. Was there any evidence to suggest that? If so, it should've been shown. (Also, the quote doesn't have an ending bracket, but I'm not the grammar police.)

So both the parents and police finally arrive. (At the same time? Different times? Who really knows? Is it important to the story?) They see a dormant household, devoid of any real presence. And ouch, killing off the dog. Harsh. The police go in and find the dead corpses lying there, with no trace of the before mentioned angels statue.

Then the story abruptly ends. Whatever happened to the statue, its origins, and all those details are never given proper …

resolution. But okay, I love a little mystery after all. Another thing is the 'in sight' tag. Does that signify that the angel is in hiding?

Now let's think about the story's implications. Why would the author choose an angel statue specifically? I, personally, believe it to represent the fall of man. The angel statue, of course, represents Satan—an evil force wrapped in the guise of good. Even though God / the operators warn against it, it enters the household, and kills the kids, the three of them representing the three pillars of Eve's character. Adam / the babysitter, despite their resolves, eventually gives into it, though much less eagerly so than the children. The policemen, representing the angels of Heaven, arrive to an imperfect abode. This may be considered one of the great works of the JetPunk Blog Page.

In conclusion, I have a fiery taste of the story. Though it breaks many rules of writing, it manages to package it into a deep metaphor for what so many have forgotten.

P.S. This metaphor is extra clever, as it shows that while you may disagree on the literal aspects of the story, its philosophical implications cannot be ignored.

I’m not sure if I’d be more surprised if it was or wasn’t a coincidence.

Oh, no, the author was my cousin!! XD

But I never thought of it like that, thanks for the review!

Also I never realized I had a typo! (no......)

Also, some missing details:

The dog? I don't know, the dog was never mentioned in the story so I have no clue why I added it. I kind of just twisted the story a little bit because I thought it was really cool. The fact that the angel statue just kills its victims with no trace of it whatsoever is an element that fits very well and adds to the mystery of the story.

The babysitter almost has a tragic flaw like that in Greek mythology: She doesn't call the police after she is told to. LOL

But either way, that wouldn't have helped because the babysitter dies almost spontaneously.

It was supposed to say "Parents: We don't have an angel statue... Call the police, call the police!" My bad!

The kids dying instantly, yeah, that was intended to instantly change the mood. It is a scary story after all!...

The metaphor about the higher powers above and below and temptation and imperfect human beings was not an intended theme, although I think this story would definitely fit in with it. To say that "This may be considered one of the great works of the JetPunk Blog Page." is, I think, an overstatement and more of an unintended side effect.

To answer your question if the angel is in hiding, there is really no definitive answer to this question. Although with a new found understanding of the message sent across *unintentionally* by this story, it would totally fit in because the angel statue, who again, according to the metaphor, represents Satan, does his bidding in the shadows with no real way to see him.

All in all, what I'm taking from this review, is that a scary bedtime story has turned into a metaphor for the fall of man and is, probably, one of the most clever implications of this theme.

Anyways, thank you for this long review! I did expect such a lengthy review but... it helped!
