Residence and education
I live in Essex (a home county) in the UK. I am currently in year 12 studying for my A-levels: Computer Science, Further Mathematics, Economics and History. I'm at one of the best performing schools in the area. I did fairly well on my GCSEs with an average grade of 7.2 across 12 GCSEs, which include CS, FM, History, Latin and German.
Passions and Hobbies
I enjoy programming, politics and history. On the sport side, I play squash (not professionally) and enjoy playing football, badminton, basketball and dodgeball. Probably my favourite activity is gaming. I'm a PC gamer and play strategy-based games such as Civilisation VI, Bannerlord and Paradox Interactive games.
Life Experiences (inc. Holidays)
I have been abroad on multiple occasions.
I went to Disney World (Florida, USA) and enjoyed every bit of my time there, other than wetting myself whilst sleeping on a chair in an airport!
I have also been to see Santa and play in the snow in Lapland along with my Nan, cousins and aunts (on my mums side of the family).
The third place of note I have been to is China. I went to China for a school trip, so it was all planned and activities booked by the teachers, but we had to pay our share. This was an epic experience with many fun activities: touring the forbidden city, cycling on the walls of Xi'an, seeing the terracotta army, walking part of the Great Wall, going to the top of Shanghai Tower, the Chinese tea experience (much different from here in Britain) and much more.
I also went on a school trip to see Pompeii, which was very fun and educational and Italian.
My mum, her partner, my brother and I managed to escape the brutality of Covid-19 and travel to Menorca. We went to Mahon, I had my first proper paella (I didn't like paella, but thought I'd try again) in Cuitadella and we hired a small boat for the day. We went snorkeling from it, basked in the sun and I made us do a big jump over the wake of a larger vessel, which mum didn't like a bit.
I have ridden by myself on a camel across the Moroccan desert and, alongside Chinese tea, have drunk Moroccan-style tea. Tea which I didn't like at first, but I warmed to it. Once we got to some nice big dunes, we got have and my brother and I played with the other kids, rolling down the dunes. The sand was very hot.
As a long-time member of the scouting community, I have been on many camps. In particular, my troop goes to the lake district quite a lot and we do plenty of water activities, rock climbing and other scout stuff.
Needless to say, I am extremely grateful for all the wonderful and exciting opportunities I get. There are many that I haven't talked about, but this section is too long already.
My JetPunk 'career'
I joined JetPunk during the first lockdown in the UK. I was amongst the few still in school (safely, of course) because my mum works for the NHS. The first quiz I took was the 'Countries of the World' quiz, by QM, as I wanted to see just how many countries I could name. I liked the site, so decided to keep doing a quiz a day. As the Covid crisis continued, I found myself playing more quizzes and spending longer on the site until one fateful day, when I created my own quiz.
I struggled at first, having to learn how to use the 'Type-Ins' section and Wikimedia Commons, but the satisfaction I felt when I finally submitted my quiz after plenty of hard work and research made me want to make more. I have made lots of quizzes now. Some are live on the site, but most are ones which I started but lacked the motivation to do. I hope my quizzes are entertaining and the questions easy to understand. Please offer constructive criticism, let me know of any answers or facts that I got wrong and give me suggestions on other quizzes I should do.
Anyway, nice blog to get to know you. I hope you have a rich time on JP and that you continue to make great quizzes.
