Taiwan/Densely Populated Countries and Cities.

+1

No one seemed to agree with my last blog so I am going to do one now where this is no right or wrong answer.

This one is about Taiwan. Is it a sovereign country?

The UN doesn't recognise Taiwan as an independent nation. However, Jetpunk does. Jetpunk rightly says Palestine is not a country but a state. Taiwan is officially known as ROC, Republic of China. China, is officially know as PRC, People's Republic of China. Taiwan has a capital, Taipei. It also has a flag which you can see on the thumbnail of this blog. Guatemala, Haiti, Vatican City, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Nicaragua, Palau, Paraguay, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Eswatini and Tuvalu recognise Taiwan's independence. A lot of these countries a quite small especially Vatican City, Nauru, Palau, Tuvalu, Marshall Islands and St Kitts and Nevis. Is Taiwan like Hong Kong and Macau, which are non-sovereign countries in China or is it an independent nation? In my opinion, it is. What do you think?

Only 2.3% of the Taiwanese population is native. The other 97.7% are ethnically Chinese. This is because Taiwan was ruled by the Qing Dynasty for 200 years from 1683 to 1895. During this time, the locals were pushed out in the same way native Americans, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders were by Europeans.

Taiwan is around the size of Belgium but has almost 24M people whereas Belgium has just 11M people. So Taiwan is very densely populated. This is a feature of a lot of sovereign countries. However, a lot of the most densely populated countries are tiny; Including, Macau (Which is part of China), Monaco, Singapore, Hong Kong (which is also part of China), Gibraltar, (which is part of the UK), Bahrain, Vatican City, (Which is the smallest country in the world), Maldives, Malta and Sint Maarten which is an island in the Caribbean that belongs to the Netherlands.

I know I know I am getting very off topic and I am just talking about densely populated countries but while I am at it I will talk about the most densely populated cities according to wikipedia.

City People Per Square Kilometer Population

1.Manila 41,000 1.7M

2.Pateros 36,000 63,000

3.Mandaluyong 35,000 386,000

4.Baghdad 32,000 6.7M

5.Mumbai 32,000 12.4M

6.Dhaka 29,000 8.9M

7.Caloocan 28,000 1.5M

8.Port-au-Prince 27,000 987,000

9.Bnei Brak 27,000 208,000

I don't think Taiwan is a country, but mostly because I'm Chinese. I once made a blog about this subject, but it was more about the history. I do think that people from Taiwan have their own cultures, but then again, so do people from the provinces of Guangxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Tibet (Xizang) and Xinjiang, and even the SARs of Hong Kong and Macau. Plus regions of China have their own dialects, which is like Taiwanese Minnan, and their own cultures. However, they still govern themselves. It's really up to what you believe is a country, and I don't think Taiwan is a country.

P. S. How do you spell Macau/Macao? I'm doing a blog post on Macau/Macao in the future so let me know what you think! :D

Taiwan is independent. It functions by its own rules, is recognized internationally (albeit discreetly), and has its own currency, government, calling code, etc.

Ok, sorry to do this, but I have ordered that global warming destroy Taiwan. 👋🏼 Taiwan/Taiwan debates.

Edit: I'm looking at my private satellite images, and I don't see anything near the coordinates 23.6978° N, 120.9605° E.
