A New Flag for Oregon?

As you may know, Oregon's flag sucks. So I tried to design a new one.

I wanted something to represent Oregon's vast mountains and forest. So I decided to use a lot of green and triangles, as well as the shape of Oregon.

Neither of those looked that good.

I wanted to use a beaver as well as mountains and the state shape. I tried a white beaver, gray shape, navy blue background, and brown mountains. I did not really like it.

Then I got the idea to color the beaver with iconic colors of Oregon. Blue for the Pacific, blue-gray for the rainy skies, green for the leaves, brown for the wood, and beige for the High Desert. This seemed better, but the mountains needed to go.

I removed the mountains and decided to use some of Oregon's state colors. I chose yellow, but did not like the look of it.

I thought navy blue with yellow would look better, and pay homage to the old flag.

This looked good, especially with the lighter border. But I wanted to change some colors of the beaver.

I changed the border to gray and made most of the beaver green instead of blue, as Oregon only has a coast. It does not have abundant inland freshwater, but it does have abundant forest, especially in the western valleys. The blue, yellow, and the beaver represented the state very well while paying homage to the old flag. I decided this was my final design.

This was it! I had created a redesign for my state's flag. While not perfect, it accurately represents Oregon and is much better than the current one.
