If Ferrari is indeed the third most common last name in Italy, a better comparison might be Williams, which is the third most common last name in the United States (https://namecensus.com/last-names/) unless the comparison is made on account of its frequency of occurrences, in which case you may want to specify that.

No, Ferrari literally means "Smith" in Italian. It has nothing to do with how common it is.
