Only by title... only by title...
P.S.: It's López Obrador (remember: Spanish language uses 2 surnames)

I like the sneer towards Musk, heh.

I think Elon Musk is great. But the Thailand episode was not his best moment.

His antics over the past few years prove that he is anything but great. But why should that be a shock? He's a pampered rich boy who's family greatly benefited from the policies of Apartheid South Africa.

He's had an increasing number of not-so-great moments in the past few years. It's a little worrying actually. I too have always thought he was great, but when people start acting progressively more erratic, one cannot help but wonder if something medical is developing/manifesting. (Aside to Bernard62601: The conditions of his birth were somehow his fault?)

Actually, the Mexicans elected their first left-wing president (AMLO) ever in modern Mexican history in response/protest against the orange clown weird man next door.

Then good on Mexico.

He's neither left-wing (though he certainly presents himself as such), nor would he be the first left-wing president if he were (Think Lázaro Cárdenas). Additionally, even though the Trump factor must have carried some weight in AMLO's victory, it was the people's dissatisfaction with traditional parties and politicians, coupled with the overwhelming violence and absurd levels of corruption in the country (The governor of Veracruz infamously gave kids with cancer distilled water instead of medicine as part of his embezzling schemes) that led to Lopez Obrador's stunning victory.

Well, besides been a wrong statement (as Fuffle33 has explained), this has gone very wrong...
As the AMLO administration started not only letting, but encouraging the Central Americans migration to the US, the Trump administration responded with import/export tax imposition.
And then, both administrations sat down to negotiate the taxes affair, and Mexico got rid off them... but at what price? Well, Mexico won't pay the famous border wall (something AMLO pledged he wouldn't do), but it has become that wall (something even worse).
Score: US 2-0 Mexico: US gained its wall (even if not tangible), and proved how weak is the AMLO administration in the political-negotiation table.

Nice quiz, from a British perspective it's nice to have a current affairs quiz without a mention of brexit. It's constant here.

I forgot there was an Olympics this year (it's amazing what you don't pay attention to when you have no cable) and only guessed the marathon winner -- they always seem to be from Kenya.

I got the Olympics one right, but I really had to reach deep for it. I don't remember anything about it. The Olympics have completely lost their luster. International competition is so frequent now and countries interact so often that the games don't mean much. Katie Ledecky wins her medals by outperforming the same swimmers she outperforms in races all throughout the four years between Olympics.

Great idea for a quiz! There was quite a lot of international headlines, which I appreciated. This was definitely one time I didn't want to see Canada though :/
