Is that Dubrovnik? Took me ages to get it, and I was there only six months ago, duh

I was trying to figure out why the hell Austria had a gold statue of Mark Twain playing the fiddle. Turns out that is Johann Strauss

I thought Horses will always be in Mongolia

Argentina is a pretty horse-y place, with its wide open Pampas and Patagonian steppe, not to mention its gaucho culture. In fact Argentina has considerably more horses than Mongolia - 3.65 million to 2.03 million. Which actually works out to the same horse population density for both - 1.3 horses per square kilometre. For the record the US has by far the world's largest horse population at more than 9 million.

But that mountain backdrop of Fitzroy - also the Patagonia brand logo - is pretty unmistakable to climbing fans...

Are you not accepting Italy for #5? There's a serious proportion of that photo in Italy :-)

Hate to admit it but good point. The picture is definitely FROM the right country. Is there a way to blur most of the Italian part?

It sure looks like Torres del Paine in Chile, but I don't know. Either way, it's a different point than Vatican City/Italy.

The notable part of the photo is in Vatican City. Just because it happens to contain a bit of Italy as well doesn't make that a good answer.

Either Tanzania or Kenya? Is the border included in the picture or something?

It's definitely Kilimanjaro. I can't tell what side the picture is taken from. Could have been taken from Kenya.

The mountain itself is in Tanzania, but the photo here is taken from the north side of the mountain. Judging from the distance this would be in Kenya. It's a bit sad, but it's very unlikely for elephants to be that close to Kilimanjaro on the Tanzanian side, whereas they are in abundance over on the Kenyan side.

Or fortunately, depending on your point of view. As of right now, Catalonia is most certainly part of Spain.

Yes it is. They had no right to secede and carried out a non-binding, illegal referendum.

Of course not. It's much better to resort to violence as 90% of the countries that are independent today have done [/sarcasm]

Really not a fan of this quiz. I was able to get maybe four from actually knowing where they were, and spent the rest of the time typing every country in roughly the right region. It quickly became a test of how quickly I could recall and type every country in Europe.
