if you are an aussie around 12+ (i happen to be twelve) you would know how to due to Australia's extensive military campaigns in Afghanistan. And BTW, no i didn't get help spelling those 'long' words!
I don't understand that why does spelling Afghanistan is such a big deal to people. I mean I really don't understand. I'm from Turkey so my native language is Turkish and we write this country as Afganistan so I only add an h after the g. What is the issue with English speakers? Does it sound strange to you?
For me hardest spelling ones are Liechtenstein(Lihtenştayn in Turkish), Kyrgyzstan (Kırgızistan yes we have ı without dot and capital İ with dot) and I don't know why but Mauritania(Moritanya).
...And if the Americas are counted as just one, all the continents start and end with the same letter. Europe starts and ends with "E," all the others start and end with "A."
YOU ALL GOT AZERBAIJAN?? I kept scrolling to see all the comments saying, "Azerbaijan, who remembers that one?" or "What? Since when was THAT a country?" .....but, no. Apparently just me.
Think you know the countries like the back of your hand? Try seeing if you can list them in reverse alphabetical order with my new quiz, Countries of the World Z-A: https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/284204/countries-of-the-world-z-a
America.... or United States of.... most countries are called Federal Republic of... Kingdom of... United Kingdom of.... Democratic Peoples something or other...add in the odd Principality/Duchy/Commonwealth of... its another ambiguous one, like in the B countries quiz with Burma-Myanmar, we all know what it is, and there's more than one name that's used in common language.
I tried this quiz and used the proper name Islamic Republic of Afghanistan... it didn't work. Also tried the "Countries beginning with I" using Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, its proper name. It didn't work.
In the "Countries Beginning with U" both United States and United Kingdom were good, but in the Countries Beginning with G", Great Britain didn't work.
We're all smart cookies on here, if one doesnt work, we see the quiz writer has used the other. It's fine. Worse things are happening in the World.
Incorrect. It is The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is not a part of Great Britain, even if they did compete in Team GB in the Olympics.
Team GB (BOA) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
It's amazing how many people from the US don't know what the name of their country actually means. "America" is not the name and "United States" is not equivalent to the "Republic of" cases; in fact it means "United States of the continent of America", since the name was applied to the whole continent (both north and south) centuries before the country was born. Meaning "America" indicates geographical location. It's equivalent to the United Kingdom of Great Britain, where "Great Britain" is the geographical location (the island) where the country is located. That's why it's GB *and* Northern Ireland, cause the latter isn't part of the former.
So, funnily enough, strictly speaking neither country has an actual name for their land, so to speak, since the first part of the name indicates political constitution, and the second part indicates geographical location.
THANK YOU, Gamer1162: You are the only commenter (that I've come across) who accurately defined the relationships between Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands! -
That is because America is known as the United States of America to the world so that is not included here, but in the Countries that start with U Quiz.
@ divantilya Your comment is neither better nor more accurate, the continental name would be North America, which incidentally would encompass Antigua & Barbuda (amongst many others). Sophia458 is correct. Maybe more to the point, how did you get to level 40 thinking America was the name of a continent?
This quiz uses the word "countries" in the sense of sovereign nations. Aruba is a constituent of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and not a sovereign nation.
I forgot Afghanistan and A and B because of the spelling. Angola was the easiest because it in the same region with my country, Eswatini (Southern africa)
This is surprisingly difficult. I tried 3 times but never got more than 9. I'm not a geography noob, I get 100% in "all countries of the world" quizes. I just struggle with this one due to time/specifics.
Aruba is a overseas territory of The Netherlands not it’s own country not in United Nations or an observer state observer states are. Vatican City/Holy See,Palestine,Taiwan & Kosovo

South America is a continent
America in Total has never been continent for as far as my knowledge stretches
Spent a long attempting to spell azerbaijan
I'm not actually kidding.
