I think that is intentional - the settlers adding another "New" to "New Jersey" for their new city.

Yep. It's said to inhabit the PIne Barrens, midway between Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore.

Fun Fact: The Jersey devil also bears a striking resemblance to my mother-in-law.

Great quiz. Am I biased, being from NJ? Hey, fugedabowdit!

I've always found it odd that the state bird of New Jersey is the goldfinch. I've actually seen more bald eagles (3) here, and just as many pterodactyls, as I've seen goldfinches.

#13, I had the experience of visiting the roof of the Goldman Sachs building in Jersey City. The fog was so thick that I could not see Manhattan. The next morning I was at Liberty State Park and took a picture with G-S and 1 WTC easily in the frame.

It would've been funny to have a question like "There is a brand of pork roll called 'Taylor Ham,'" and watch everyone in the comments from New Jersey combust in indignation.
