I'm guessing that someone crucified in 33AD might narrow down your potential answers, regardless of the actual year.

Clarification: There is a single mention of 'Christus' by Tacitus. The only other ancient, non-Christian textural source is Josephus, writing decades after Jesus' supposed date of death and the references to Jesus there seemingly refer to multiple people by that name - it isn't clear which, if any, refer to the Biblical Jesus. A few of the mentions give information about the Jesus in question that would seem to suggest they are not in fact references to the Biblical Jesus or they are and either Josephus or the Bible were mistaken in certain details. All other ancient texts either derive from these or post-date the Christianisation of the Roman Empire and are based on the information in the Gospels. The scholarly consensus is that on balance Jesus existed (the Tacitus reference to Christus being the most important piece of evidence), but that it is far from a closed case.

What Findlay said. It is also worth mentioning that, paradoxically, this is a pretty new area of study, since for centuries upon centuries, you simply weren't allowed to question Jesus' existence. I wouldn't be surprised if the scholarly consensus, which is more of a scholarlly guess at this point, evolved substantially in the future. Not that it really matters...

Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed historically. From the Great Oracle of Wisdom - Wikipedia, so it must be. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus

Wannabe you're kind of sort of on the right track here, though why should we take John Croissant's quote as the definitive position of skeptics or historians when there are hundreds/thousands/millions just as prestigious who disagree? Oh, I know. Because it's almost like what you said but the exact opposite. People will cling to ANY thing they can to try and prop up their religious faith. Which make historical claims about religious figures HIGHLY suspect. Nobody has any similar need to prop up the existence of Shakespeare or Archimedes. We have no reason to suspect that evidence surrounding these figures is fabricated or biased.

4 BC is probably pretty close to the mark, but both His birth year and death year aren't completely certain, though they are nailed down to a few-year range.

Sorry, but BCE (Before Our Common Era) represents BC and our Common Era (CE is the equivalent of Anno Domini). This distinction was made when historians couldn't quite juxtaposition the birth of Christ (who was actually born in 2 BC) with the fact that he would have been born before himself. Subtract the date he was crucified from his age at death (33) and you will arrive at the correct answer. (remember, there was no year 0).

The two that impress me the most are Alexander the Great and Kurt Cobain. Alexander expanded massively expanded his empire and is widely renowned as the greatest military commander in history... and he died in his early 30s. Kurt Cobain's music is still played today and he's been inducted into multiple halls of fame, and he did everything in his 20's.
