Didn't know who Lawford was, but just had him on an answer for the last random quiz I did so I remembered him! See, you do learn from taking these quizzes.

I would think the clue for peter gabriel is a little confusing. He has not been the lead singer for genesis for decades.

I don't think it's very confusing. He was the original lead singer. Plus, how many other lead singers for Genesis have the the initials PG?

Tom Brady doesn't start with a "P".

He's generally regarded as the best poker player, though that's obviously just an opinion.

Too many US sports references for me. But I don't have much interest in my own nation's (UK) sports so I had no chance!

Agreed on the US Sports reference. A recurring theme on here sadly.

People who spend their free time being productive, learning, and bettering themselves (most jetpunkers) are not the same cross-section of the population who waste their time watching sportsball. I think you speak for the majority here when you say you'd like to tone down the sports questions.

I don't disagree necessarily, but sports lend themselves REALLY well to trivia because of all the decades' worth of players and statistics that have accumulated around sports.

Males are definitely over-represented. Pat Nixon, Patty Duke, Pauley Perette, Patsy Cline, Patti LaBelle, Priscilla Presley, Pink, Peggy Lee, - surely a few more could be added.

TinklePork - it is possible to enjoy literature, art, film, all the "finer" parts of culture and enjoy sports as well. They're not mutually exclusive. If you don't like sports, that's fine. No one is going to force you to watch and no one is forcing you to go on JetPunk. But, like it or not, sports are a big part of our culture and as such have a place in trivia quizzes such as these. And to say that people "waste their time watching sportsball" is an extremely elitist and ignorant statement.

You are not wrong pctjunkie. But generally speaking, the nerdy types that loves learning and obscure knowledge is not the same crowd as those that are crazy about sports (and/ or can tell you all about make up..what the latest lipstick is called etc). That is not to say that you cant like both. But there are definitely distinct types of people.

Often on different ends of the spectrum with clustered interests. (Like, since I am allready in the grey area of stereotyping... : people that like sports often like cars, and branded clothing, people that like operas/classical music, rather read a good book, wether it is a science book or a literary work of art, than go to a wrestling match.

sports is an intersting thing in this. Cause more than other interest it is influenced by your upbringing.

I find it fascinating to see those things, how people differ and how they are alike, nature vs nurture etc.

TinklePork: I could say the same about all of the Harry Potter or Star Wars references I see on this site. I have zero interest in either topic and would consider reading/watching them a waste of my time, but I answer questions about them often. A broad variety of topics on these quizzes can help make you more well rounded (like a sportsball).

Subjective opinions never make good quiz hints. Surely you can come up with a better hint for Peyton Manning.

Yet you probably knew instantly who he was talking about, right? There's a question mark, so it's clearly something that QM knows that isn't in universal agreement.
