Robin Yount would fit very nicely as Y.

He used to be here but people whined about having an American sports figure on the quiz.

Who the heck is Robin Yount????

level 71
Nov 13, 2017
I mean, I don't think there is any way he is more obscure than the answers for RI or RQ...

So better to not have any "RY" person than to have one that a number of people don't know?

"Whew! Glad I didn't learn anything new on THAT quiz!"

BTW, Robin Yount is too obscure, but Thorstein Vebler on the "T" quiz isn't? *rolls eyes*

I don't understand. There are people in the world who didn't follow Milwaukee Brewers baseball in the 80s and 90s?

I've definitely heard of the Isley Brothers and Randy Quaid. No idea who Yount is. But the fact that I don't know who he is is not a good reason to exclude him from the quiz.

Some people (including myself) weren’t alive in those years.

So because you weren't alive is a good excuse to not learn anything historical? No one who takes these quizzes was alive during the years of Genghis Khan, Charlemagne, Napoleon...

Could you not find a better clue for RO then "lesbian comedian"? Is that really what defines her the most? I mean, would you give "Gay actor who played a wizard" as a clue for Ian McKellen?

Mar 19, 2018
I don't know if it defines her most, but I can say there's no way I would have known it if the clue were "Comedian and talk show host".

I mean, not for nothing, but Ian McKellen is by far the best answer for that hint.

These are CLUES, not autobiographies! Nothing says it has to "define" the person, just nudge you in the right direction (along with the initials, of course).

Jun 26, 2018
The real issue is referring to RO as a "comedian"...

Let's get offended by describing someone as a lesbian shall we?

Jeez, there was no derogatory implication, just a description

Normally I'd agree with you but in Rosie O'Donnell's case that's the most flattering set of adjectives I can think of.

That guy from Not the Nine O'clock news.

I think he's remembered as Blackadder, but just better known for Mr. Bean. He doesn't speak, so an audience anywhere can be easily entertained, and therefore it's seen more widely. I love Blackadder, but it's not as accessible for most people as Mr. Bean.

Saw the word drummer in the clue and automatically skipped it. I never know specific musicians in these quizzes. Then I saw the answer, reread the clue, and now I'm so ashamed. I was a fan when they first invaded the US and I missed that one???
