Amber is a gemstone, but it is actually not a rock or a mineral. "A mineral is a naturally occurring chemical compound, usually of crystalline form and abiogenic in origin (not produced by life processes)." Amber is produced biologically; it's an organic compound. "A rock is an aggregate of one or more minerals or mineraloids." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral
Great quiz! As I rock and mineral collector I enjoyed this though I got Alexandrite wrong! Glad you put in the metals too! Hope you do another quiz like this... maybe a birthstone picture quiz or gems and metals from the bible quiz...
I missed obsidian BECAUSE i play Minecraft. If it was a slightly more square purplish block (amethyst and quartz look perfect, because they are not square), and had a purple portal in the middle of it, I would have gotten it.
I’m not saying that you should require it be typed in as such, but you might want to specify that’s snowflake obsidian in the picture (the way you only require “garnet” to get its question right, but specify it’s andradite garnet in the answer). #themoreyouknow
Awesome quiz! I’m a rock hound and a jewelry maker so it was easy for me, but I think it was perfect for the average JetPunk quizzer (who is very smart!). Great image selections, too!
Loved the quiz though!

- amber and opal are not minerals nor rocks
- amethyst, rubi, sapphire and emerald are not minerals but varieties of quartz (amethyst), corundum (rubi and sapphire) and beryl (emerald)

I didn't think lapis lazuli was actually real. I've only seen it in Minecraft.
