The Enemy Below
Film begins at the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Follows the career of a heavy cruiser captain, his promotion to vice admiral and his planning of a major operation to take an island to be used as an air force base. His second-in-command is a loose cannon. After raping a nurse, he 'redeems' himself by an unauthorised reconnaissance flight that reveals that a large Japanese force is on its way to cause mischief. He is killed.
