There are some issues here. For example, what about the 1968 flu pandemic that is estimated to have killed 34,000 to 100,000 people in the U.S.? What qualifies as an event? The hurricanes lasted days, but AIDS has lasted 40 years. And more Americans died in the Iraq War than Hurricane Maria. That's just off the top of my head.

Pretty crazy how covid killed more Americans than the Spanish flu. I literally thought that flu pandemic killed a few million people rather than over 600k

The Spanish Flu didn't last as long, and the population of the US was around 103 million, which was a larger percentage back then, so even though Covid killed a lot of people, I wouldn't say it is as bad as the Spanish flu due to time span and percent of population.
