the Netherlands has the biggest port in Europe, so a lot of the Chinese goods enter through there.

That should not be counted as an import by the Netherlands, unless they are importing semi-finished goods for assembly (this does not happen).

Interesting how China, for a long time, cut off travel to and from Taiwan, but they are still a massive trading partner. I guess business comes first.

During a thawing in relations in 2008 between President Hu Jintao of China and President Ma Yingjeou of Taiwan, travel restrictions between the two areas were greatly lessened. Although relations have soured since 2016, it’s been quite difficult for China to reimpose the travel restrictions due to the popularity with mainlanders of visiting relatives, doing business, and sightseeing in Taiwan.
