I believe that you've given the chemical formula for glucose. Sugar (sucrose) is formed from two glucose molecules stuck together.

Sorry for the confusion! Glucose is a simple sugar, but you are also right, sucrose is a complex sugar formed when 2 simple sugars combine. I will make sure to add a clarifier asking for a simple sugars formula. Thanks for the feedback
