Before you comment, read the caveat

The data is taken from the Project Gutenberg Frequency List found on Wikipedia.

If a word doesn't appear in the top 5000 most common on that list, it isn't included

Cartoon isn't in the top 5000 according to the source I used -- trust me I looked for it for a while

S__T_D:

It accepts 1659 SEATED but could also be 4207 SUITED

Unless I've misunderstood how it works (I'm seeing some clues that accept multiple answers, but they seem to be alternate versions of the same root word e.g.: ARISE/AROSE and ELDEST/OLDEST and I'm not clear whether that's a necessary condition for you to accept multiple answers.)

If I have misunderstood, my apologies.

Fun quiz, either way!

As far as I know, the Project Gutenberg frequency list comes from mostly old books, so it is hard for a normal person nowadays to intuit whether or not a word will appear in its top 5,000. Perhaps the quiz should accept all possible words, or only include unique ones.

I enjoyed it though, and I didn't have to guess twice many times so it's not a huge deal. Thanks :)
