What is your source on this? So many of these are not incorporated cities (like the town I grew up in - Crofton) yet make the list while major towns do not (like Columbia, Ellicott City, Silver Spring...).

Greg - pretty sure this quiz is limited to incorporated towns. Since Maryland law has historically favored counties over cities, there are many places that are well-known CDP's (including the three you named), but they're not incorporated.
