The americans don't need overseas territories, they already have a country the size of a continent. The same can't be said about France or the UK.

Israel's capital has been Jerusalem, by law, since 1980. Because many other nations don't acknowledge Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem, most embassies are in Tel Aviv instead. The US recently moved their embassy to Jerusalem, but not because of a capital change.

The nations of the UK play football as separate entities (or “countries” if you like). England won the world cup in 1966 and STILL go on, and on and on, about it now. Those of us from the other nations of Britain love hearing about it. It never gets boring.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has territory in every continent on Earth, inhabited or otherwise, naturally all my fellow geography nerds will already know that but still I felt like pointing it out.

I believe our good buddies over in le France have territory in six continents which is impressive also. Viva la France & God save the Queen.
