I thought of Sharjah because I was in a choir once that sang in NYC's Carnegie Hall, and it consisted of many choirs from high schools, colleges, and communities all around the world. One of the schools was the American University of Sharjah, so I actually got to meet lots of really cool folks from the UAE!

Yukon is a territory, not a province, so based on the question it doesn't count.

Ha! Good point! I tired every possible variation on the spelling of Yukon and was about to insult someone in the comments, but it didn't occur to me that it's just a "territory"!

Saskatchevan! Please accept spelling with a "v" too? I started with Saskachevan and got the "t", but didn't even think about the "w". Duh.

Why would a v be acceptable?

Nov 1, 2015
Because it's basicly the same letter. And because I don't understand half the leniency in spelling on this site anyway. When something is hard for me, no leniency, when something is just easy pie, then there's about 50 different ways you can typo that.

In English, it's not at all the same letter.

Saskatchevan is not even a word or place. No, and it is insulting to the people of Saskatchewan. It would be like accepting Nev York, because you can't spell New York.

let me get this straight..79 percent is the lowest for former yuoslavian countries, but less than 50 percent know that manitoba borders usa?

Blame it on the Countries of the World Quiz. More people on here probably know Sao Tome & Principe than Alberta.

Is that hard to believe? I think the same scenario would happen, if the question was German states that border France.

canadian provinces are well known...besises a few german states, they are not...and since the majority of people that use this site are from usa, would think they would be higher...hell...more people knew aberdeen than they did manitoba or saskatchewan...which is odd to me

It's not official yet. The Greek and Macedonian governments have signed an agreement for the change, but it has to be ratified by both of their respective parliaments. Macedonia will also be holding a referendum about the change later this year regarding the changes this would require for their constitution.

Umm, well it is true that the Yukon borders Alaska, but there is no such thing as the Yukaton... There is the Yucatan Peninsula, but that is in Mexico, not Canada. The other thing is that the Yukon is a territory, and not a province, and since the quiz specifically asks for provinces the Yukon does not count on the quiz.
