Countries that you'll never see on a scrabble board
Given a standard Scrabble board and English letters set, and using blanks to represent spaces, there are 18 countries which can't be spelled out, either because of the available letters, or because they would not fit on the board. Name them!
Country names are as given in the Countries of the World quiz.
This was a terrific idea, but please clarify that the complete, official name cannot fit.
Also, can you be sure to simplify the answers? I think USA, UAE, CAR, Bosnia, Trinidad, Sao Tome, Antigua, Saint Kitts, Saint Vincent, and Czechia should be acceptable. (If some are already accepted, sorry. I only tried for 1 minute before I gave up because I was impatient to see the answers.)
Czechia is a special case because the czech republic recently changed its official name to czechia, but nobody, not even czech people, call it that. they prefer czech republic. This wouldn't be a big issue except on this one quiz.
I don't really understand by what it means when it says "cannot be made with available letters". Can someone explain?
Thanks! Some of those type-ins already worked, and I've now added several more.
If there were a country with two Zs in its name, for example, that couldn't be made with the available letters because a scrabble set only comes with one Z. I've tried to clarify this in the instructions now.
It cannot, but this quiz is based on the official list of UN member states, on which the Republic of the Congo is down as just Congo. The list contains some surprising entries but it's authoritative and objective!
