Challenge #6
First off, I'd like to begin by apologizing for how long this episode took to come out. I've been reaching writer's block lately, and I didn't know how to proceed with my series, so I fell into a hiatus period. I hope you all understand. With that said, the sixth challenge for your tribes is:
To make a script for U.S. States Viewer Voting #14!
I'm sure most of you are aware of this series, but to recap, it's my other blog series where you viewers vote on states, and they get eliminated one by one! I've always wondered what kind of scripts you guys wanted to include for the series, so now is the time for you to express your wonderful ideas!
To write the script...
create a Google doc and share the link with your tribe members,
collaborate a quiz with your tribe members,
or write it in a private comment to me (you will have to use several of these, comments only allow 1000 characters)
Also...
There have been non-Jetpunk survivor contestants as well as eliminated contestants who have been eager to participate in our previous challenges. I feel like this is the perfect time to incorporate you guys into a challenge! If you are not a Jetpunk survivor contestant, you can participate in this challenge! Just find a way to communicate your script to me.
This script is due NEXT Tuesday, January 23.
What should my script include?
There are several things that make a script engaging and meaningful. I'll admit that even I can improve in some of these areas.
One of your scripts, whether you are a tribe or an individual, will be chosen to be the ACTUAL USVV#14 script. Here is what your script will be graded on:
Elimination Ceremony: /10 points
Demonstrates which state will be eliminated. Shows accurate information.
The blog said both vote to save and vote to eliminate, but people understood it was vote to save.
West Virginia: 10
South Dakota: 10
North Carolina: 8
South Carolina: 7
Maryland: 1
North Dakota: 0 [ELIMINATED]
Challenge: /15 points
States participate in a challenge, and one team loses. Shows creativity and thought. I'm sure that you can do better than the previous USVV challenges.
Lore: /15 points
Includes lines from at least 25 of the 36 remaining states. Includes lines that will keep the story line and character development going. You can (and should) also include lines from Gekko, DC, Canada, or even introduce a new character!
Accuracy: /10 points
Includes lines from ONLY the 36 remaining states. Shows awareness of the current teams.
Mechanics: /5 points
General grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. rules are followed.
Length: /5 points
Is between 1,000 and 50,000 characters in length.
Appropriateness: /3 points
A script that any Jetpunk user would be allowed to read. No swear words, inappropriate scenes, etc.
Submission: /2 points
Submitted by January 23, 2024 at 10:00PM UTC.
Overall Scoring:
Elimination /10pts
Challenge /15pts
Lore /15pts
Accuracy /10pts
Mechanics /5pts
Length /5pts
Appropriateness /3pts
Submission /2pts
TOTAL /65pts
The script that gets the highest score will become the script for U.S. States Viewer Voting #14!
Good luck everyone!
Other Challenges
In addition to the script, the Jetpunk Survivor tribes also have a set of riddles and challenges to complete! There are only a few, since the main focus is on the script.
These are due by Saturday, January 20 by 11:59PM UTC.
1. Wolves and Sheep Riddle
You have a 5x5 pen with 8 animals. Three of them are wolves and five are sheep. Each animal takes up one square. The wolves move like a chess queen, straight or at a diagonal. Your job is to place all 8 animals on the grid so none of the wolves can move directly to the sheep. The wolves attack the sheep if they have a straight line to their square.
Write three numbers where the wolves should go and five numbers where the sheep should go.
/15 points
2. Crossing the River Riddle
A family with two children and two adults is hiking in the forest. Suddenly they arrive at a river. They want to get across, but they cannot swim. The only way is a boat that can carry one adult or two children. How many trips are needed to get the whole family across? (Hint: It's a whole number, not a fraction)
/10 points
3. Krypto
Manipulate the five numbers using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to get the bold number.
Example:
3, 6, 16, 17, 18 = 24
16 + 17 - (18/6) x 3
A. 1, 3, 7, 15, 21 = 18
B. 11, 12, 16, 17, 19 = 23
C. 2, 5, 14, 17, 21 = 16
D. 5, 7, 7, 18, 19 = 15
E. 13, 16, 17, 19, 23 = 11
Each one is worth 2 points (10 total)
Scoring
Script /65pts
Wolves/Sheep /15pts
Crossing River /10pts
Krypto /10pts
Total /100pts
