A little of history
I got into Jetpunk around 2013/2014, when I was looking for a quiz on world countries. I found out this site had lots of fun quizzes, and made this account very soon. In this almost seven years, my life changed a little (from a teenager to a young-adult). The most important was the starting of my major in Geography. I can't deny Jetpunk had some influence on this choice: although I always loved maps, it was the Countries of the World Quiz that made me get closer to the general knowledge on how our world is.
My major is not even close to focus on scientific communication, but I think this site may be the best way to communicate geography - as most of this beautiful science is knowing random things on territories. During the pandemics, I've invested some time on creating quizzes on the Portuguese Jetpunk to use them on my classes with my students. Obviously it kinda worked, and I still aim to get better on svg to create lots of better quizzes on physical geography aspects of my country (Brazil).
Ok, after this little rant, let's go back to the featured quiz.
The featured quiz
The quiz that got featured was the first quiz i created here: Queen Songs. Back in 2014, the teenager Gustavo was a really really big fan of Queen. I'm not kidding: I really spent most of 2013 and 2014 listening to lots of Queen songs. This is another thing that changed on my life. About 2017, I got a little tired of their songs (it's a mystery why that happened, huh? It's not as if listening to the same song over and over and over and over would get boring), but never stopped at all liking them - they still being the band with most songs on my phone.
And, as in an cosmic coincidence, yesterday by the morning I reached the mark of 10,000 scrobbles of Queen songs on last.fm. I was expecting that to happen since last year, because it was clear it would take long. And, by the night, I open Jetpunk and see my quiz on Queen songs getting featured (!!!). As the teacher from The Incredibles say (and, as it's a real big meme for us brazilians, I must say that in Portuguese): coincidência? ACHO QUE NÃO.
Thank you, Quizmaster!
Anyway, I'm really happy with that. I've been here for soooo long, I've brought so many friends to this site, I've done so many quizzes... Jetpunk is really a very very important part of my life - and even more during pandemics. I wish I had more time (and disposition - not gonna lie I'm not that good with online social socialization) to interact with the community on blogs and get in touch with people like me.
I think this blog may not be in the correct/typical model, but, as I said, don't have much time to really read lots of them. I just wanted to post this and share my history and happiness with you!
(btw, the thumbnail was the only thing I thought of. I wished to post a photo of mine hangloosing - as it's the most common way I express happiness to my friends - but I'm not going to post my face on any open database).
Valeu cara!
I'm kinda inconstant on my ideas for quizzes. Right now, I'm aiming to create a "Brazilian Geography by Letter" series, with the help from some friends. I'm not sure if it's going to really happen, but I'm trying to. It would be another improve for the Portuguese version of Jetpunk! And also to try bringing quizzes on countries out of EU/North America to the English site.
The "Todos os municípios brasileiros com nome de santos" was a very fun quiz to make. It even made me create a "scientific communication" profile (more like a wannabe, ngl) on Twitter. I'm producing some content there, but none of them was good enough to turn into another quiz. If anyone reading this is a fan of Brazil and knows some Portuguese, I invite you to take this quizzes!
Amazing! This idea is very nice! Hope happen! And I didn't took this quiz. I'll try :)
(Can't believe nobody said it in the first five comments)
Поздравляю с этой функцией! Викторина была забавной, хотя я не знал ни одного ответа!
Parabéns por este recurso! O teste foi divertido, embora eu não soubesse uma única resposta!
keep up the great work:)
Unfortunately I haven't noticed a lot of quizzes since I mostly stick to the English site. I'm looking at your maps right now and they look great. Also, I'm a huge Queen fan too :) and I really liked your feature!
Anyways, congrats again and hope you get more features in the future!
