Did you say AI Art?
AI art is a way to create images through the use of Artificial Intelligence. From the first models of the 60s until today, the improvements have been colossal and brought within everyone's reach. Nowadays, it is possible for anyone to run AI models and thus generate creative content.
Let me introduce a tool called Craiyon. This AI model (formerly known as DALL·E mini) can generate images from any text prompt and might come in handy for those wishing to create content. So why not use it for JetPunk?
I chose Craiyon among the many other AI art tools available because it doesn't require any registration or invitation to use it and the content generated is free to use (within the terms of use), and -icing on the cake- because of its unintentionally hilarious rendering!
Note: I am in no way affiliated with the Craiyon project and I wrote this blog only to present a tool that might be useful to users or that might at least make you laugh.
Jeppy in AI Art
To illustrate the many possibilities offered by AI art, let's take a character well known to JetPunk users: Jeppy the JetPunk Fish!
This mascot could be described as a "green fish with blue eyes and spikes on its back". Let's create drawing from this simple description : "green fish with blue eyes and spikes on its back, drawing".
You can get endless results from a single text by re-running the program. Here are two examples of what I got:
You can play with drawing styles and textures by typing watercolor, neon, or even style of Monet, Warhol painting, and so.
AI Art for JetPunk
Some JetPunk users have understood the incredible potential of AI art and have submitted quizzes like Countries by AI-Generated Images #1 or the crazy People on AI-Generated Images, and more recently The Lost Paintings of Andy Warhol from Quizmaster.
Note that QM uses an other tool called DALL-E 2 by Open AI, which is one of the most powerful yet but requires and invitation to be able to run the program. This restriction is the main reason why I chose to present here Craiyon which is available for everyone.
These quizzes will show you amazing ways to use AI Art. So why not start creating content for JetPunk quiz/blog with AI?
For example, here is what you could get from the texts: "Earth with a question mark", "Question mark in the colors of flag of France, drawing" and "drawing of a cloud with question marks":
These could be used as thumbnails, for example.
Despite its incredible potential, this tool also has limitations. One of them (for now) is the drawing of faces.
Ask Craiyon to draw someone's face and you can be sure to get something very weird most of the time. Ask it to generate a drawing involving someone doing an action and the result will be even crazier. For instance, try "Abraham Lincoln eating a baguette" and let me know if you could get a clean result! It is a limitation developers are working on.
Also -and this is a sad news for JetPunk users- don't expect getting clean country shapes with Craiyon. It is at least one point where bots don't beat humans... well, for now!
AI-based softwares are constantly improving and learning, so we can hope these limits (among others) will be improved soon!
Elboy's Weird Gallery
With a little imagination you can get beautiful, crazy or funny things like these:
Thank you for reading my first English blog on JetPunk. I hope it has been instructive and entertaining!
-Elboy
And the blog section is already very active with some great content so I don't know if I could add anything interesting to it. Time will tell!
and had my comment deleted, I'm planning to use this for a YouTube video.Seriously, excellent blog and thanks for highlighting a great resource.
Nevertheless, whether with or without download: shut down this PC and go see your wife who is waiting for you :D
Seriously, thank you for your kind comment!
My wife is watching some celebrity TV show, Kardashians or Real Housewives or such, I'm better off here trust me. But thanks for the concern !
E.G. tell it to make " A bowl of soup that is a portal to another dimension" and it gives you a super cool image that looks exactly like a bowl of soup that is a portal to another dimension.
Nice to see you're doing English blogs now Elboy!
E.G. I could create a photo of " a man in striped shirt outside a bank " however I could not say " Elon Musk robbing a bank "
you get the idea.
While I haven't played around with it, I hope this technology gets over all of its limitations and doesn't get misused.
BTW, old Voldy looks so real! The Martian city image also looks good! :)
Like all AI models, the one presented here will improve after "learning" and the developers seem confident with that. Better quality and larger image size are also planned.
Also, I noticed that some specific keywords allowed to bypass the limitations (except for the face). Craiyon seems to have a bright future ahead of it, and still has many surprises in store for us.
The Martian city looks like Doha in 100 years to me :D
