My Southwestern U.S. Trip Part: 2

+3

Over the April break, I explored the United States' Southwest region: Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. From the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada to my amazing hotel pool in Phoenix, Arizona, Angels Landing in Zion National Park, Utah down to our surprising stop at a Jack in the Box in Needles, California. This trip was truly unforgettable and I would love for you guys to hear all about it. PS: If you haven't read part 1, I would recommend reading that first.

Saturday, April 16th: Pacific U.S. Time: Around 7 or 8:00 PM: Arrive at the Comfort Inn & Suites Page at Lake Powell, Page, Arizona, USA

Welcome to Page Arizona!

I finally arrived at my hotel in Page, Arizona after a two hour drive from Springdale, Utah. I had done so much earlier in the day that I decided just to stay in my hotel room for the rest of the night until I went to bed.

Sunday, April, 17th: Around 8:00 AM: Wake up

I woke up at around 8:00 in a new state; Arizona. I spent sometime in my cozy hotel room, then went down to the lobby to get a delicious breakfast. There was a variety of options. There was a waffle maker, so I made myself waffles, grabbed some strawberry banana yogurt, a pastry, and some water. When I finished breakfast, I went back to my room and just relaxed and watched TV. Then maybe an hour later at 12:00 PM I left to go to the Navajo tour of Lower Antelope Canyon that I was attending.

Around 12:20 PM: Arrive at Lower Antelope Canyon Tour Center

The tour I used was Ken's tours which is a Navajo-owned and operated tour company through both Lower and Upper Antelope Canyon. I did the Lower Antelope Canyon Tour. So there is a time difference between the Navajo Nation (which is where the tours were in and Page is not) and the rest of Arizona from March-November. This is because the rest of Arizona doesn't follow daylight savings time, while the Navajo Nation does. So the rest of Arizona (including Page) was currently on Pacific time while the Navajo Nation (where the tours were) is on Mountain time. Since I had just entered the Navajo Nation, it takes my phone time to adjust to the time difference therefore since my tour was at 1:00 when they called the tours for this time, my phone said 1:00. But, they were currently handing 12:00 tours because of the time difference in which I didn't know because my phone didn't adjust. So basically I had to wait another hour for my 1:00 tour, so went to Walmart where there was a Subway, and ate some lunch.

Mountain Time: 12:40 PM: Arrive back at Lower Antelope Canyon Tour Center

I had gotten back to the tour center where I waited for around 20 minuted for my tour to be called. When my tour was called, I was greeted by a Navajo tour guide whose name I do not recall. Anyways, she led us down into the canyon in which we had to climb down a few ladders. It was very hot above ground, so when we finally got into the canyon, it was much cooler. The canyon was beautiful and I enjoyed our tour guide very much. She showed us the different formations such as "Woman in the wind" and where different famous backdrops were taken when companies like Microsoft and Apple came down into the canyon.

In total, the tour was around an hour long, and Antelope Canyon was one of the prettiest things I have ever seen in my life.

When we got back out of the canyon, our tour guide showed us some cool dinosaur footprints beside the canyon.

We said goodbye to our tour guide and then I headed into the Visitor Center and got some refreshing ice cream in which I enjoyed very much due to the intense heat.

I shopped around in the Visitor Center and got a postcard, magnet, and cool Navajo necklace with an arrowhead on it. Then I left to go back to the hotel.

Pacific Time: 2:20 PM: Arrive back at hotel

When I arrived back at my hotel, I went strait to the pool area which also had a hot tub. I stayed mostly in the pool, but I enjoyed both very much. Then at around 4:45, I went to get McDonalds and ate it on my way to the trail that leads to Horseshoe Bend (which I was very excited for). At around 5:15, when I finished my food, I started walking on the trail which maybe took 20 minutes. Anyways, the view from the trail was very beautiful.

I arrived at Horseshoe Bend at 5:45, where I immediately took pictures, but what I was really waiting for was the sunset. The scene of Horseshoe Bend regularly is just terrific, but during a sunset, the scene is unimaginable. It felt unreal and was a sneak peek of the Grand Canyon in part 4.

As it got darker, more bugs started to come out and it was very annoying, so I headed back on the trails. By this time it was maybe 8:00 or 8:30 PM and I had been at Horseshoe Bend for more than 2 hours just sitting and enjoying the stunning natural beauty.

9:15 PM: Arrive back to hotel

When I got back to my hotel, I went for a swim in the hot tub and pool and then went back to my room, where I immediately passed out.

Overall this day was one of my favorite parts of the trip, and by far the most beautiful.  I hoped you enjoyed part 2! Part 3 will be coming shortly. Stay tuned for my next destination!

Very nice blog! You have some amazing photography skills, really stunning. The Horseshoe Bend looks stupendous!

The Woman in the Wind reminds me of the wallpaper in a Samsung mobile I had some 10 years ago. Thanks for the nostalgia as well!
