Introduction

Ukrainian flag

Ukraine is a large country in Eastern Europe. Ukraine borders Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. Ukraine has a slowly downticking population of 44.2 million. That's only 2 million less than Spain (46.6 million)  and 7 million more than Poland (37.9 million). Ukraine, at an area of 233,062 sq miles (603,628 km) is the 2nd largest country in Europe (including Crimea). From plateaus and steppes, to plains and fertile grasslands. Lowlands on the Black Sea, to the Carpathian and Crimean mountains, rivers, and waterfalls. Ukraine is a beautiful country!

Mount Hoverla in the Carpathian Mountains

Ukraine is home to 2 mountain ranges. The Crimean Mountains, and the Carpathian Mountains. The largest of these is the Carpathian Mountains which span roughly 930 miles (1,500 km) long. The Carpathian Mountains is the 3rd largest mountain range in Europe, following the Urals in Russia, and the Scandinavian Mountains in Scandinavia. The mountains travel as far west as the Czech Republic and Austria, in the north through Poland and Slovakia, as well as Ukraine and Romania and Serbia in the south. The Carpathian Mountains are divided into three groups; The Western Carpathians; The Eastern Carpathians; And the Southern Carpathians. Ukraine is in the Eastern Carpathians. The highest mountain in Ukraine (Mount Hoverla) is in the Eastern Carpathians. Mount Hoverla is 6,762 feet (2,061 meters) above sea level, making it the highest mountain in Ukraine.

Map of the Volyn-Podilsk Upland

Ukraine has a lot of plateau regions. The largest of these is the Volyn-Podlisk Upland. These plateaus extend between the Dniester and Upper Bug river valleys in the west and the Dnieper River in the east in western Ukraine. The region is bordered to the north in Lviv, and to the south in the Zaporizhzhya-Balta line near the Black Sea lowlands. The highest area is in the north near Lviv, reaching up to 1,545 feet (471 meters).

Coast of the Black Sea in Odessa

The Black Sea Lowlands, are an area of you guessed it low land along the northern shores of the Black Sea. The lowlands are almost entirely in Southern Ukraine. Basically the Black Sea Lowlands are a plain stretching along Southern Ukraine (Including Crimea and Azov Region), as well as parts of Moldova.

The Danube river in Ukraine

Ukraine is home to many long rivers. The longest river that passes through Ukraine is the Danube River. At a length of 1,777 miles (2859.8 km), the Danube River is the 2nd longest river in Europe, following the Volga River. The Danube passes through many other countries before Ukraine, as Ukraine is the last country to see the Danube before emptying into the Black Sea. The Dnieper River is the 2nd longest river to be present in Ukraine, but the longest river to have the longest length in Ukraine if that even makes sense. The Dnieper River is 1,423 miles (2290 km) long. 47.7% of that length is in Ukraine.

Borscht served with sour cream and dill

Ukrainian cuisine is a mix of various cooking traditions from the different ethnic groups in Ukraine. Ukrainian dishes often experience a complex heating process; at first they are fried or boiled, and then stewed or baked. Ukrainian cuisine is often referred to as the "breadbasket of Europe" due to rye being mixed into many dishes. Potatoes, cabbages, mushrooms, and beetroots. The national dish of Ukraine is called Borscht. Borscht is a well known beet soup containing beets, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, onions and garlic. Sour cream and dill are common toppings.

I ❤ 🇺🇦 Kyiv!

Kyiv also known as Kiev, is both the capital and largest city in Ukraine. With a population of almost 3 million, Kyiv is the 7th largest city in Europe. Kyiv is an important industrial, scientific, educational, and cultural center in Eastern Europe. Kyiv is one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe, dating back to the 5th century as a Slavic settlement. Kyiv is a beautiful city, as it is on the Dnieper River. Kyiv is covered is a green city; as it has two botanical gardens along with many large and small parks. The most popular attractions in Kyiv include Saint Sophia Cathedral, Saint Andrew's Church, Mariyinsky palace, and the Motherland Monument. Ukrainian and Russian are both commonly used in Kyiv as 75% speak Ukrainian as their native language and 25% speak Russian as their native language. Same. I pray that the war ends soon and that Russia stops, but I doubt that that will happen anytime soon.

I hope the Ukraine war will end soon, with as little casualties as possible. It's mostly innocent civilian lives that are being caught in the pointless Russian firestorm.
