Nikola Tesla was a very smart engineer. As a kid he was very helpful. For example he helped the fire department and he was only 7 years old! When he grew up he worked with Thomas Alva Edison, one of the greatest minds ever, but they had a fight about DC and AC.Thomas was supporting DC(Direct Current) and Nikola was supporting AC(Alternating Current).They both showed demonstrations, they gave pamphlets and more. Nikola said that AC was much safer and it would need only one power plant. Thomas said DC is better.
At the end Nikola won. A little years later he wrote a book called "My Inventions The Autobiography of Nikola Tesla". Then he invented the Tesla Coil. It was very useful. A few years later he died from a a heart attack. We remember Tesla for his great mind so the United States put his face on stamps. There is a Statue of Tesla in Niagara Falls. And Nikola Tesla was the inspiration for the automobile company called Tesla owned by Elon Musk. This is the life story of Nikola Tesla.
I'm assuming you know what current is. Tesla's form of it was AC( Alternating current), while Edison's form of it was DC( Directed Current). It wasn't exactly a war. but a conflict of ideas. Both people thought theirs was better. It even got to a point where Tesla declined to help with the Manhattan Project because they used DC( I'm not sure if this is true, but I heard someone say it).
The reason Tesla "won" the "war" was that AC proved to be more efficient than DC. It takes much less energy to generate power in AC than it does in DC. The only downside of AC is that it takes less energy to make lethal amounts of it. So In conclusion, AC is more efficient than DC. The only thing Tesla lied about is "that AC is safer". He would've been smart enough to know that it wasn't.
