There was once a day where 125 drugs were legal
On March 10th 2015, the Irish Government ACCIDENTLY legalised the use of 125 drugs. It's known as Yokes Day and a lot of young people just went to night clubs ang got high. But some how cannabis wasn't legalized so you could have some crystal meth and not be arrested but if you had some cannabis instead you could've.
Irish isn't actually spoken in Ireland
St. Patrick isn't from Ireland
St Patrick's Day is known as an Irish festival even in USA, and he's even the patron saint of Ireland. Born in Wales around 386 AD, he was in fact captured by the Irish and sold into slavery, working as a shepherd in the West of Ireland.
Before the Great Famine, Ireland's population was 8 million
The Great Potato Famine was from 1845-49 and 1 million people died & a lot of people emigrated. It is now only under 5 million.
Ireland has some of the best folktales
This one is slightly controversial, but in my opinion I find the stories really interesting, especially since most of them don't end happily, but in fact very sadly. Children of Lir, Deirdre Of Sorrows & The Bull of Cooley.
Guinness has a long human rights record
Guinness is probably Ireland’s most famous beverage but the owner Arthur Guinness was a kind humanitarian. Guinness was involved in loads of things including housing the poor & supporting the Irish troops during world wars ensuring there were jobs at the brewery.
Although a little disappointed there's no mention of Guiness in a blog about the great things in Ireland.:)
I've now got to learn about the 3 folklore examples you have given. Wikipedia here I come.
