"Kite" should be accepted as a type of falcon, too. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Kite+falcon

I'm somewhat of a bird enthusiast, and I'm going to have to disagree with that. Other than that strange definition, nowhere is there anything called a Kite Falcon. The genus Avicida/Aviceda it refers to in the definition are called Cuckoo-hawks, and - along with any bird called a kite - belong to the Accipitridae family, distinct from Falcons.

I would second that. If it said "type of bird of prey" then kite would be fine. It's not a falcon, though.

Agreed - kites are not falcons. Kestrels are falcons (family Falconidae). Buzzards, kites and hawks are separate subgroups all in the same family (family Accipitridae).

I did. The spelling killed me, because I was convinced that the second vowel was an "o" or a "u" (Its "Cangu-" in Catalan, and Portuguese and Turkish, "Kangou-" in French, "Kängu-" in German,...)

Can we not get credit for the falcon like bird being a KITE ?? That's what I originally typed in. Thanks for checking to see if a Kite could be accepted ... And if not, then I agree that a Kookaburra and a Kite should/could both be added into this mix.

Admittedly, this isn't meant to be a definitive list of k creatures, but I was a little surprised to find that baby animals and mythical beasts had been included at the expense of things such as the kookaburra, kingfisher, kittiwake, kite, knot and kagu. (Hmm, what a lot of bird names beginning with a k.)
