Canada isn't the only country with moose. Colombia isn't the only country with coffee. The Andes span more than just Chile. Nomads aren't just from Mongolia. Jamaica isn't the only country in the Caribbean. India isn't the only country with cricket. Germany isn't the only country with beer. Should I go on, or can you just admit you're wrong on this one?
+6
level 56
May 22, 2015
It didn't say the clues are specific to these and only these countries. The clues given are simply things that, when grouped together, call to mind one country in particular. Obviously Colombia isn't the only country that exports coffee, but when paired with Shakira and tejo, Colombia springs to mind. Should I go on, or can you just admit you're wrong on this one?

well to be honest ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, the US is actually the only super power in the world. not to say that all other militaries are weak but as of now there is no country with a military nearly as capable as the US military. which makes sense considering how much money we poured into it for the last many decades.
+1

+2
level 73
Aug 9, 2018
Which other country has the capacity to project significant military, political, and economic power anywhere in the world? It's ridiculous how oversensitive you snowflakes are. The clue doesn't even say "only"- though it wouldn't be inaccurate if it did.
+2
level 56
Aug 9, 2018
India isn't the only country that plays cricket and Norway isn't the only country with oil. But the clues fit. The US is a superpower, and probably the most influential superpower in the world. In fact, I think its status is a superpower precedes pretty much the entire world's view of the US. People from other countries are constantly railing about how terrible the US is, but the fact is that there are many countries much, much worse than the US. The issue is that the US is the *most powerful* country, so its failures have ripple effects the world over. "Superpower" is probably the US's most notable characteristic, so yeah, it should be there whether you resent it or not.
+1
level 43
Aug 9, 2018
And just because a country is classed as a superpower does not make it either good or bad. It merely means that it is a very powerful country, which the USA is. Personally I think it too often abuses it's power, but that does not mean that it is not a superpower.

How is yogurt related to Greece? It was invented in Central Asia (or perhaps the Middle East or India), its name comes from Turkish and until the 20th century, it was popular in the entire Ottoman Empire and elsewhere, not just Greece. To Cyanidecarrot: The USA's ultimate downfall will be because it keeps sticking its nose into other countries' affairs and routinely gets stabbed in the back as thanks. If we adhered to the Monroe Doctrine we would not have this problem. Let all of those who so gleefully criticize the USA at the slightest provocation (such as on these quiz sites), fend for themselves, and let us mind our own business for once.
+2
level 56
Aug 9, 2018
The Monroe Doctrine was implemented at a time when the world was more fractured. International relations are more complicated now, and countries are inextricably linked. If the economy of Europe tanks, it will affect the US. The US brands its intervention as "humanitarian aid" because it's good PR, but most of its intervention has a practical purpose. Becoming a hermit state in the 21st century is not beneficial.
