Ok. Step one. Do the countries of the world quiz that is on this site, then slowly memorise them. That's what I did. Also doing it with Google maps is a help. Sorry this is a cheat's way but it is successful and I doubt all of you did this without some help from trusty google

Wouldn't it be easier to start smaller? I'm taking the individual continent ones to help with the Countries of the World quiz. On my first try here I had only gotten Morocco, Egypt, Madagascar, and South Africa. But by repetition and mnemonic devices I'd gotten them all by 3rd or 4th try.

Easiest way to learn all the countries in a region or on a continent is get a map and spend lots of hours looking at it. Get a colour map where each country is a different colour, that makes it easy to distinguish different countries. Memorise a few countries at a time, like border countries gradually. Once you've got it locked in there, its there

Read in depth about the conditions of life in Western Sahara, the supply of water and cost of doing so, the employment situation, the governing of the area etc. It is not just a case of a nation wanting independence, it is answering the vital questions for the ordinary people living in the area. Who will govern? Who will police the State? Who will provide infrastructure and such things as hospitals etc. You cannot just hand over a place to a flag waving group and say OK ..... now your independent.

If I am not mistaken the origin of one lies in moors and the other is named after a person, prince Maurits van Oranje. (By the dutch, when the french took over they called it isle the france, then the UK was in charge and it got its old name back again)

So as similar looking as they are, the names have nothing to do with each other. Plus it was not the french that named it (it's current name, it had been called other things before)
