Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte is the location of the Sri Lankan parliament, and the official capital. Due to the fact that it is a suburb of the city of Colombo, Colombo is often listed as the capital.

The best is Antananarivo, Followed by the great Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte, which is then followed by reykjavik, ouagadougu, tegucigalpa, Bandar seri begawan, and the wonderful phnom penh. Of course you must mention bujumbura, N'djamena, naypyidaw, yamoussoukro, tbilisi, nuku'alofa, ljubljana, ulaanbaatar, lilongwe, vientiane, nouakchott, windhoek, bloemfontein, ngerulmud, asuncion, basseterre, paramaribo, funafuti, and sana'a.

I have always given Colombo as the capital and it was never wrong in any other quiz - I checked in wikipedia and the CIA world factbook and they both list Colombo as (a not the) capital. I think you should accept it or change the question

Split the name up: Sri (from Sri Lanka) Jaya (sounds kind of like Java) warden (English word) e (intervening syllable) pura (sounds like pure) Kotte (sounds like coat).

3:04 remaining. I thought that was a very strong run. I drew Sri Lanka, and my heart sank as I thought I was going to have to spell it out. Then I remembered you can just take the shortcut for Sri Lanka, and type Kotte.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why is this quiz set in the mode where you have to answer the highlighted one? I think it would work better if you could just type in the cities and you knew for sure, and then came back to the ones you couldn't remember at the end, w/o having to move that yellow box around.

Because of variant spellings found on both Wikipedia and Google Maps, I think you should accept Naypyitaw as well as Naypyidaw. (Same problem with World Capitals).

Ouagadougou is kinda easy if you leave ou and think it as one vowel (which it is). In Spanish is Uagadugu for a reason. So. Ou=0 0+aga+d+0+g+0 so, you only have to remember agadg and the rest are Ou's

When Indian children have to know how to spell things like Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte when they are ten...then they move to the USA and enter the Spelling Bee...they are given words like mispronounce...these kids are thinking..."Kindergarten level". this is what google has to say about the capital of Israel dispute- Tel Aviv and Jerusalem served as de facto joint capitals of Israel from May to December 1948. The Israeli parliament and the supreme court are both located Jerusalem, which makes it the legislative capital and judicial capital of Israel.
