Although oligarchy in effect does mean the rule of social elite, the term was devised to describe the rule of the few (as opposed the rule of a single person or a whole nation).
I'll admit I tried "capitalism"...haha. (Yes, I know it doesn't end with either of the two options, and yes, I know capitalism blah blah blah....yeah).
Haha honestly I can't believe that I got Gerontocracy just because I knew that Gerontology was a term for the study of old people and I thought hey why not put them together? But I somehow couldn't remember the more obvious one about the nobles and the Aristocracy. Oh well I still got 12/14 which is better than most.
I don't want to be one of those nitpickers on Jetpunk, but monarchy literally means "one ruler" and does not necessarily mean a king or queen rules. A dictatorship is a monarchy. Maybe you can remove "monarchy" or "autocracy"...
I would never be able to guess "Gerontocracy" or "Matriarchy", but I did somehow get "Patriarchy". I don't know how. And, Anarchy is not a form of government, rather it is the lack of one. Maybe you shouldn't remove that because it's one of the most guessed.
I don't know how you got it @cosmokim since literally "patriarchy" is rule by fathers, by your reasoning it shouldn't have been an answer to the prompt. Androcracy would the right answer, though it's not in my dictionary. Same applies for matriarchy = rule by mothers: answer should have been gynocracy; that is in my dictionary curiously enough. I think we should be told why.
Oligarchy misses the mark for this definition; it is rule by a small, select group with a common interest, not necessarily social, more commonly business or military
Kleptocracy... this was particularly simple, since the press of my country (Br) uses this term diary to refer the governament. and of course, people here and all over the world can't disagree.
Would be fun to have krato- (rule by the strong). Thalasso- and telluro- are also interesting, but apparently it means that economic control of the sea or land is the source of power, not that you literally elect the sea to Parliament and interpret its waves as expressing decisions. Wasted opportunity if you ask me!

I would guess this is because comments on Jetpunk are moderated, though I'll admit to not knowing how rigidly the rules are enforced.
