Official Languages of the World on the Disappearing World Map
Can you name the official languages of every country in the world? Countries will disappear into the ocean as you guess their official languages. This will happen gradually for countries with more than 1 official language. Countries without a dejure official language, only a defacto one, appear in orange.
Really cool idea! Just too bad it shows the answers when you mouse over the map :/ If it would show the countries it would be better (since they are listed below anyway, so it would not be cheating, since the countries names are allready provided, but it does save scrolling up and down).
It is theoretically possible to change that, but it would be hard.
You had to change every answer to the country's name, have the language's name a type-in, and remove the country's type-in, make the languages a text, and click "hide cell", and choose the correct country.
That is true, and also -ish. In Finnish the language and country names are often exactly the same with one difference in writing conventions: languages are written with small and countries with capital letter. In speech they are of course the same.
some nitpickers observe that we don’t have an ‘official’ language stated anywhere, same as we don’t have an ‘official’ written constitution. english is obviously our language, along with welsh and scottish, as it’s what all official government documents are in, so i agree english should be accepted. official or unofficial, it’s clearly the language of the uk
All of the countries with multiple languages aren't fully colored in, you can fix this (for those that have 2) by changing the lower layer to 100% opacity, and the higher layer to 50%.
Taiwan (Republic of China) has passed the National Languages Development Law, now we Taiwanese have multiple national languages, including Mandarin, Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka, Matsu, and Formosan languages. Also, Taiwan do not have an official language so national language is all we have.
By the way, Chinese is not a language but more like a language family since for example, Mandarin and Cantonese are definitely mutual unintelligible, so please do not include Chinese as a correct type in.
In NZ, we only have two official languages, Māori and NZSL. While English is our most spoken language, it isn't one of our official languages. Feel free to correct me though.

Suomi 'Finland'
suomi 'Finnish language'
Still a great quiz.
Very nice quiz.
