I got 0. Gave up pretty early because I knew I wasn't going to get any. Reading the answers, I should have known 3 or 4. I used to laugh when non-US citizens couldn't get our states' names, but now I'm impressed when they can. I know some US citizens that can't do that. Good for you, aldobetancourt. Makes me think I need to learn more about the rest of the world.

To be fair, 8/31 ≈ 13/50, so knowing 13 would be the equivalent.

I spent 3 months in Mexico and most Mexicans seemed to think the US consisted of Texas, New York, California, and Miami. When we told them we were from Alabama they would just look at us funny, clearly having no idea what Alabama is. I bet most of them can't name 8 states is my point.

The Reason for that is because most people that come from latin america to the United states consist of going to one of those stated the reason being is because those are the states that would have a good population of spanish speakers compared to Alabama, wisconsin louisiana oklahoma and others and the reason NY came up is because... well everyone know NY lol

I encounter people from many countries, and Mexico most especially, that know a lot of American geography because they have family there. The average Mexican probably has at least one family member in at least 20 different states.

I would wager that more Mexicans can name US states than vice versa. After all, once they get here they'll need to be able to get around! I don't know of many Americans who dream of emigrating to Mexico....

Most Mexicans actually don't want to immigrate to the United States. In fact, in 2014, more people moved into Mexico from the United States than vice versa, mostly Mexicans who had previously moved to United States. My point is, most Mexicans probably cannot name American states because they could care less about their northern neighbour, even if the US is the most powerful country in the world.

I'm Mexican and I socred 23/31 Mexico is divided in so many states and it is a big country, I live in Puebla in southern México and I have never been in the north of Mexico I think I have visited less than 8 states. We have national geography classes since elementary school, so I should probably be ashamed of this results.

You can borrow maps from other quizzes, but I don't think there is any quiz that features a map of Ukrainian regions so you would have to make it yourself. I don't know how to do that, though.

If you're not including Mexico D.F. in the answers, you may want to have it filled in at the beginning. I know you wrote it in the directions, but it still took my tired self a few seconds to figure out what I was doing wrong.

The distinction is that if you live in a country you naturally pick up knowledge of its geography, but to learn the geography of a different country you have to go out of your way to try to learn it. For many of us Americans this quiz is the first time we've ever tried to learn the Mexican states. (Although a depressingly high number of Americans know nothing about their own country's geography, either.)
