Velvetta has got to go. Maybe some folks use it to make queso but there's nothing Texan about it. In fact it's made in New York. Some Texans also drive Nissans but that doesn't make Nissan Texan. Maybe the former Cowboys training facility Valley Ranch could replace it.

How about V for vanity, the biggest Texas export?

I think there are a few others that have already claimed the vanity title. They may brag a little about their state from their pride in it, but I don't find Texans to be vain. Maybe go with "vegetarian/vegan" - a type of diet you will rarely find being practiced in Texas.

Rio Grande is a much more well-known river than the Red River. Why not make that the answer for R?

And most of the time "for" ends in "r." Unless you're Moses Malone, who ended his career in San Antonio.

It's the place where the original Six Flags amusement park began when I was young. My cousin went there while visiting relatives, then kept talking about it for weeks. That's the only way I knew it. I can see where it would be difficult for someone not from the USA.

Shocked that the anti littering slogan is still so well know since it's been close to 20 years since it was heavily promoted. Especially when compared to the Austin slogan which is still going strong.

Typo in "L," just missing the 'r' in "for."

Also, a suggestion that maybe makes it harder, not sure, but definitely more Texas, for "O" maybe use "Texas tea?" :)

Yes. It's super nit-picky, but technically the stuff pumped out of the ground is petroleum, or crude oil. It shouldn't be called oil until it's been refined. Of course, it's often called "oil," (informally) at every stage of the process.

I can think of many answers more fitting to Texas than the "V" cheese...

How about "vaquero" (Hispanic predecessor to the cowboy), Cabeza de "Vaca" (Spanish explorer who famously shipwrecked on the Texas coast), "Vietnamese" (3rd most spoken language), "Valero" (oil company based in San Antonio and common brand of gas stations), "Van Horn" (town in West Texas)...
